Workshop Calendar

No need to scroll down the page to check the upcoming and past workshops and other events organised by Loesje and her friends in Poland. Our CALENDAR brings the information about activities and detailed locations.

Although the base of the calendar is only in Polish, there is information both in Polish and English about the activities planned also for English speaking participants. For those who need some language assistance with the names of the months, please check them here.

If workshops are planned for both English and Polish speaking participants, you can choose the language individually, according to your preferences. However, our experience proves that it's best to come with a friend or a few friends if you plan to participate in workshops moderated in English - the bigger the group is, the more interactive and creative the session becomes.

Loesje's workshops consist of warm-up games based on working with word associations and creating short texts (all the necessary materials are provided). They aim to promote freedom of expression, activism, creativity and critical attitude toward reality. The most inspiring and interesting texts are later layouted to create a new series of posters.

New murals in Warsaw

Loesje and her friends from V9 street art collective created two more murals in Warsaw in autumn, 2015. The big-size paintings keep the minimalistic style of Loesje posters and are located in two districts on the right side of the Vistula river: Targowek and Praga Polnoc (Praga North).

Visually the murals are as minimalistic as Loesje posters: simple letters are painted on a plain background of the walls of the buildings.
This minimalistic approach emphasises that it's the text and its meaning what is the most valuable aspect of a Loesje poster, and not a colourful form.

New Loesje murals in Warsaw

It was in October when four new murals with inspiring texts signed by Loesje found their home in Warsaw's Praga Poludnie (Praga South) district.
Texts for murals were chosen during Loesje open creative text writing workshops which took place on 14th July at cosy Cafe Baobab located in Praga Poludnie district:

  • Pierwszy krok rzadko bywa do tyłu (The first step is seldom backwards) – located on the wall of the building on 292 Grochowska St
  • Umysł / otwarte 24h (Mind / open 24/7) – located on the wall of the building on 56 Międzynarodowa St
  • Zrób komuś dzień dobry (Make/Say somebody a good day) – located on the wall of the building on 61 Walecznych St
  • Z punktu widzenia drogi mlecznej wszyscy jesteśmy ze wsi (From the Milky Way point of view we all seem to be from a village) – located on the wall of the building on 30/32 Lubelska St, next to the East Railway Station

Visually the murals are as minimalistic as Loesje posters: simple letters are painted on a plain background of the walls of the buildings.
This minimalistic approach emphasises that it's the text and its meaning what is the most valuable aspect of a Loesje poster, and not e.g. an attractive colourful form.

The first Loesje mural was created in December, 2011, in Praga Polnoc (Praga North) district – not far away from the new locations. The text saying “Im dłużej czekasz na przyszłość tym będzie krótsza” (The longer you wait for the future the shorter it will be) is located on 38 Stalowa St.
New murals were created as a part of the activities carried out within Arteria Art Foundation's project “Art to the streets cars to the galleries”, which was named after one of the Loesje posters. The project was supported by the Warsaw City Council.
